Axis Student Ministry

Who we are:

We are Axis. The ministry to 7th - 12th graders. In this day and age, words sometimes get garbled up and lose their meaning along the way. So we paint two pictures when we talk about the main statements that we have laid out for the student ministry here at First Church of Christ. When we talk about our mission statement: Love God, Love people and Prove it. We paint the picture of a bleeding heart, a person who shows extravagant emotion towards something. We say we wear our heart on our sleeve: We Love God, Love People and Prove It.

Rhino

The other picture is that of the rhinoceros. When we explain our core values we look to the attributes of the rhino to help us flesh out what they mean & topaint a picture that we can all visualize. There are things that we see things about the rhino that we can easily apply to the Christian life like a Christian it is an unstoppable force or we never retreat. Our prayer is that as we paint these pictures for the teens that God brings through this ministry, will aide us in building a foundation that will help them stay connected to God through college and into their young adult years. But we can't do this alone. We need you the parent to get involved in the spiritual life of your teenager. Encourage them to read their bible, pray, invite friends to church and be here. Ask them what God is teaching them and share what He is teaching you. Please partner with us as we partner with you.

How we make disciples:

There should be a process to making a disciple. While we know there isn't just one way to make a disciple this is the process we feel that God has given us. Think of this as a map. We use the X is Axis as our process and direction. Our goal is to reach lost teenagers and build up Christian Teens through our mid-week outreach program, The Hub. From there we encourage them to get involved in our other programs (Community, Core, Sweat and with the whole church body) that help connect them to each other and adult sponsors who they can build relationships with and be a positive influence in their lives. Each of these programs are instrumental in leading them to Love God, Love People and Prove It.

Sunday Mornings:

Community -small group time (Bible reading plans, accountability, prayer) @ 9:30AM in the Teen Room

Core -main teaching time(7 focuses sharing faith, prayer, obedience, dependence on the Holy Spirit, engaging the Word of God, reflecting Him in life and It's all about Jesus) @ 11:05AM in the Teen Room

Wednesday Nights:

The Hub -community outreach night (XP3 teaching curriculum and hang time) @ 6:30PM in the Teen Room

Other Programs:

Sweat -Throughout the year we will provide service project and mission trips in Painesville, the mid-west, the U.S. and across the globe as well as opportunities to create awareness in missions & causes that help others in their need.

Intergenerational -1st Sunday of the Month & throughout the year to be a part of the larger body of Christ.
